Sanny – A Very Different Game

It was noon. Sanny was ready.

She sat down on the sim’s seat and watched the surrounding room dissipate. She loaded her preference file and got comfortable. Within seconds, the simulation loaded and the battle had already begun.

"Welcome Master Hedges. "Came Sixteen’s voice.

"Cut the talk down Sixteen. Give me a full scan of the nearby area. "Sanny couldn't afford a time loss right now. She needed to be on her toes.

"Certainly. What are we looking for? "

"My sister, probably in the Master. Maybe in a copy of the Drive. "

Sixteen seemed to pause for a longer than normal moment. Sanny was never sure if Sixteen was sentient or not and moments like this did not help.

"Understood, Master Hedges. "

Sanny began to navigate around the vast emptiness before her. Alex had to be here somewhere.

Unless she cheated. Again.

Alex said she would play this straight. Sanny had trouble believing it. Something had been possessing her sister to not think rationally lately.

"Master. "Came Sixteen’s voice, but Sanny had already seen it. Alex was coming in. Fast.

Sanny saw the Black sheen of The Master grow larger in her screen. Alex was sticking to the familiar.

Sanny quickly pressed the button which brought up the shell. The ship’s defense popped into existence.

It did not seem to be needed. Alex just flew over her.

Sanny quickly turned her ship around, but Alex as nowhere to be found.

"Where did she go?" She asked out loud.

"Unable to locate. "Sixteen responded. "Continuing scan... "

A message popped up on her AMT. Sixteen read it out loud.

"Did you think you invented the power-down cloaking? You can be so cute sometimes. "

"Find her. "Sanny growled.

"The shell is preventing me from doing a visual scan. Should I disable it?" Sixteen responded.

Sanny responded by pressing the button again.

The shell vanished, clearing the screen. Her eyes flickered across the screen once more.

Then she noticed the stars began to rotate around her display… Clockwise. Sanny had not been hitting the thrusters at all, but they were…. moving? "

"Sixteen? "

"We are being moved by a slight amount of force on one of the sides. "There was a slight pause. "Master. I have found the enemy. "

"What? "

"She’s using her engines to push us, Master. "

Without prompting, Sixteen brought up the image on screen. The Master was flying downwards into one of her wings, causing her to slowly spiral.

Sanny slammed the engine into full to give herself a bit of space. She watched the Master get smaller in her rear-view screen.

"Sixteen, keep an eye on her. If she disappears again, give me a rough estimate on where she should be.
